Honeycomb Studies.

As the founders of local beekeeping enterprise, Urban Hum , we are constantly inspired, by our honeybees, and their functional creativity. We have chosen to collaborate with our hardworking bees to create a series of simple works that celebrate the beauty of their comb. Honeybees are nature's ultimate architect's, building complex honeycomb in perfect hexagonal repetition. Bespoke hexagonal timber frames mirror the shape of the bees comb. Each frame was placed in one of our hives and built upon by the bees with no intervention from us, working with rather than against the bees choices. We hope to share the wonder and gratitude we feel for these important little pollinators and architects.
